A FedEx trucker who was trapped for nearly 30 hours in a freight truck and dragged for days has died, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The driver of the truck was identified by his family as 34-year-old John Thomas of St. Louis, Mo., the department said in a statement Monday.
Thomas was driving a FedEx truck at 1:20 p.m.
CST on Saturday, Aug. 1, when he got stuck in a truck and was dragged for nearly five hours until he was rescued by the truckers, according the department.
The truck driver died at the scene, it said.
Thomas was a licensed FedEx freight driver, it added.
