How to stay safe in the sea: Why there’s a difference between an emergency and a serious accident

Posted October 06, 2019 06:03:54 Emergency workers have warned of the dangers of a dangerous job that’s almost never safe.

Key points:Emergency workers have said they’re seeing a growing number of accidents involving marine vesselsThe Department of Fisheries says the number of marine vessel accidents has tripled in the last three yearsThe Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) says there have been 2,903 marine vessel fatalities since March 2018The Maritime Safety Network (MSN) has found that more than half of the marine vessel collisions that have occurred since March this year have been in waters off Queensland, NSW and Western Australia.

A spokesman for the AMSA said the number is a record high.

“The recent record-breaking number of incidents, including a major incident in the Port of Darwin, has been a wake-up call for all maritime safety professionals, including our regulators, regulators-in-charge, and all of our stakeholders,” he said.

“We will continue to monitor this situation and the trends in the industry to ensure that marine vessels are safe, safe, and safe again.”

The safety of marine vessels is paramount, and they should never be involved in a marine accidentThe number of serious marine vessel crashes in the past three years has increased significantly, according to the AMS, with the total number of fatal incidents rising from just over 300 in the first three months of 2019 to 2,940 in the same period.

The department says the record-setting increase in marine vessel incidents reflects the continuing need for a safe environment for vessels in the ocean.

“Most maritime accidents occur in coastal waters,” the AMAs website says.

“These are the areas where marine vessels typically operate, often in crowded areas, and where people are most likely to experience serious health and safety risks.”

The Maritime Board of Australia says there’s little difference between the seriousness of marine safety incidents in the port and other parts of the nation.

“Many accidents occur where vessels are in relatively isolated areas,” it says.

But Mr Brown said the rise in marine accidents was a result of people living far away from ports, rather than the need for them to move closer.

“When I’ve seen a few of these people in the water and they are actually not onshore at all, they’ve been travelling,” he told ABC News.

“They’ve been going out to sea and they’ve done things that are pretty dangerous, and it’s a real problem.”

What is a marine disaster?

What is marine disaster prevention?

The Maritime Council of Australia (MCA) says the focus should be on educating people about the risks of marine life.

“If people don’t realise the risks and the dangers they are placing themselves in, then the risk of a marine tragedy is really very high,” the MCA’s marine disaster response manager, Robert Hargreaves, told RN.

The MCA is a not-for-profit organisation that represents the interests of coastal communities in the Australian port region.

“It is critical to educate people about marine life, about the risk, and the need to be aware of what marine life can do,” he says.

Mr Hargroves says it is important to remember that there are marine life that are part of our natural environment, and are protected by laws.

“What we need to do is educate people, and get them to understand what marine wildlife can do, what it is that they can do when they are out there, and to understand the risks they can take,” he adds.
